Multiple Job Offers? Here's how you choose...

How to Choose Between Multiple Job Offers

Congratulations! You’ve just received more than one job offer and you’re in demand. That’s all great news, but how are you going to make a decision?

We have put together a list of items to consider when making your decision. By reviewing the list you will be better equipped to make the right choice.

Factors to consider when making a decision:

  1. Growth opportunities

    It is important to take growth opportunities into consideration when comparing two jobs.  One job may offer more money but lacks development opportunities.  By taking this job you will have more disposable income but you may not be able to advance your career.  Another job may not pay as much but offers great opportunities to learn, develop new skills and advance in your career to a new level.  It is important to determine what is more important to you, having more money right away, or working somewhere that provides great growth potential.

  2. Working Hours/ Distance

Everyone feels differently about commute times and working hours. Ensure you have a full understanding of the expectations and travel time required for a job. Questions to consider;

  • Do you have to put in a lot of over time?

  • Do you have to work outside of the regular 9 to 5 time slot?

  • What is the commute time (there and home)?

  • Are you required to travel?

If you prefer to have a short commute time, with regular hours and no travel required, one job may stand out versus the other.

3. Work environment and co-workers

You spend more time at your workplace with your coworkers than your family, your pets or your friends. You REALLY have to make sure that the work environment is not toxic and is enjoyable to work in. Having a positive and friendly work environment is truly a blessing and if you’ve been lucky enough to have a choice, try to make the best one for you!

Congratulations again on having multiple job offers. You should really be proud of yourself. It may also be a bit overwhelming, so when you are going through your pros and cons list, go with your instincts. You are in the position to make choices so don’t be afraid of crossing out the ones that don’t feel right to you.
